Electoral Support Products

Ancillary products to support local authority elections, canvass and registration activity.
Our print expertise goes beyond printing millions of electoral stationery items for local authorities across the country. Each year we provide local authorities with electoral support products for election count processes and to bolster canvass and registration efforts.

Electoral Support: Elections

Each May we provide a number of electoral support products to local authorities to help manage the ballot paper count. This can range from the way ballot papers are counted and security, to ensuring everyone gets the chance to vote on polling day.

Grass Skirts

Grass skirts are our popular method for counting ballot paper votes where voters have the option to vote for one or more candidates. A council favourite, our effective and simple trackable count system is robust, affordable and avoids lengthy re-counts. We have small and large grass skirts to accommodate 25 ballot papers and 10 ballot papers across. We also have summary sheets to count grass skirt totals.

Small-10

Caters for 10 ballot papers across (at 210mm wide each)
3 to 10 candidates down (plus 1 line for unused votes)
One strip of tape
Summary sheets available

Small-25

Large-10

Count Sheets

Our counting sheet system is an alternative method to grass skirts. It involves the manual transfer of candidate votes from the ballot paper to the counting sheet by marking the count sheet accordingly. Usually done in pairs, volunteers work together to transfer the votes / unused votes.

Queue Cards

Polling stations close at 10pm, however during a particular busy election there may be queue outside waiting to vote. Our queue cards are credit card size queue ‘placers that are handed out to voters that arrive before 10pm, to ensure they can be identified and cast their votes.

Wristbands

Similar to count passes, wristbands act as a security measure for the count, ensuring only the eligible people are allowed in attendance. We offer two types of wristband:

Tyvek ‘paper’ wristbands are anti-tear and come in different colours. They can be personalised with your council logo and sequentially numbered.

Silicon rubber wristbands also come in different colours and are highly durable, they can also be personalised with your council logo.

Large & Braille Ballot Papers

By law, every polling station must display a large print copy of the ballot paper for reference and a reference copy for visually impaired voters to take into the booth with them. We support councils with their accessible voting obligations by producing large ballot for reference and Braille ballot papers.

Electoral Support: Canvass & Registration

We also have electoral support products for canvass and registration.

Attainer Cards:
Who doesn’t like getting a birthday card? Our range of birthday cards are sent to attainers to encourage them to register to vote. They support the many young voter initiatives that happen all over the country.

It is very important for young people to know they can vote and how they can vote. Despite the increase of technology among this age group, our birthday cards are still very popular with local authorities, especially the ones who are keen to improve registration numbers with a younger demographic. The inside page can be used for ‘how to vote’ instructions. We currently support English and Welsh languages.

So, why not add attainer cards to your registration activity. Explain the registration and voting process and get young people to register to vote!
Encourage 16, 17 and 18-year-olds to register to vote online
Personalise your message to the attainer or younger teens
Describe how to register to vote
Explain how to find out more about voting
A range of birthday card designs, including new 'social media' designs
